For many of us in metropolitan areas, birds are our only constant reminder that a wonderfully wild world still exits out there. From the common to the rare to the exotic, birds have unknowingly served as a measure of how we, as a human race are faring. Contributing more than any other form of wildlife, they have taught us invaluable lessons, warned us of numerous dangers, become warm, loving companions and have enduringly decorated our world.
